I obtained my MS: Applied Psychology with an emphasis on Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Washington University and BA in Elementary Education from Washington State University. I have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor for 12+ years. Since 2003, I have been blessed to work in numerous settings and positions ranging from a Child Advocate in an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, to a Pre-K/Kindergarten teacher, and a Mental Health Caseworker in a county jail. I was employed as an Intern Clinical Supervisor, Case Manager, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor in a community mental health setting for over six years while also running a psychosocial rehabilitation day support program for adults with chronic and severe mental illness. In addition, I provided crisis intervention services within local hospitals and jail to assess adults and children for voluntary and involuntary commitment to psychiatric settings as one of the county’s Designated Mental Health Professionals. Most recently, I worked for the Hawaii State Judiciary as a Senior Probation Officer in the Second Circuit, supervising sex offenders, high risk felons, and those who experience severe mental illness. I currently serve as a Commissioner on the Maui County Commission for Persons with Disabilities. Skilled in Counseling, Diagnosis, Case Management, Protective Services for adults with Disabilities, Mental Health Care, Patient Advocacy, Supervision Management, Crisis Intervention and Suicide Assessment. I utilize evidence based practices such as EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral and Humanistic theory and techniques within my practice. I enjoy working with adults, teenagers and youth! If you are seeking clarification in your life, in a relationship, or struggling with anxiety and/or past trauma, I will be present with you to address your conflicts head on and without judgment. I will work side-by-side with you to better help you discover and reach your personal goals. I am extremely passionate about serving others in the pursuit of healing and optimal well-being.
